May 26, 2023 – After a month of bringing together a number of COB employees to compete in the exciting sports and games, the COB Sportsfest concluded with a cheerdance competition participated by the clusters, followed by the Awarding Ceremony held at the Bataan People’s Center. 

The representatives of the clusters left the audience with remarkable ten-minute performances showcasing their cheer dancing moves and twists jiving with  their loud and colorful costumes, props, flags and pompoms, incorporating modern live drums in their routines. 

On behalf of Mayor Francis Anthony S. Garcia, Hon. Christian Manalaysay and Hon. Jowee Nisay Zabala expressed their messages of gratitude to the Sangguniang Panlungsod, City Health Office, Health Promotion Board, City Department Heads, and COB employees for the joint efforts and collaborations in making the sportsfest a successful one, cultivating a sense of community among employees to develop teamwork and sportsmanship in the workplace and encouraging them to engage in a healthier lifestyle through sports and recreational activities. 

Best players garnering the most points were also recognized in the games. The winners received trophies and cash prizes while consolation prizes were also given to other clusters. 

Basketball

  • 2nd runner-up – Cluster VIII: Local School Board
  • 3rd runner-up – Cluster V: CGSO

Volleyball

  • Champion – Cluster 1: COB Main
  • 1st runner-up – Cluster II: CPAOO
  • 2nd runner-up – Cluster V: CHO-Annex
  • 3rd runner-up– Cluster VIII: Local School Board

Cheer Dance Competition

  • 1st place – City Health Office
  • 2nd place – CPAOO

Meanwhile, City Health Officer Dr. Mariano T. Banzon delivered the closing remarks wherein he thanked Mayor Francis Anthony Garcia, Vice-Mayor Vianca Lita Gozon, Sangguniang Panlungsod, City Health Office, Health Promotion Board, and all city departments in making this event a success. He also congratulated everyone who took part in this year’s well-attended sportsfest. Lastly, he reiterated that sports events like this are something to look forward to in the coming years and that the City Government of Balanga hopes to continue to curate and conduct more fun-filled and action-packed games.
