The City of Balanga has been recognized as one of the Digital Cities 2024, signifying a major achievement in its digital transformation journey. This award celebrates the city’s outstanding efforts in creating job opportunities, driving sustainable economic growth, improving digital infrastructure, and encouraging innovation and collaboration with all stakeholders. Furthermore, it highlights Balanga’s excellence in the four key pillars of digital city selection: talent, infrastructure, cost-effectiveness, and business environment.

The recognition was received by MIS Officer, Ms. Roneth B. Santos, on July 24 during the Digital Cities Awards Night held at Nustar Resorts, Cebu City. The event, part of the Contact Islands Conference 2024, was graced by key figures from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), including DICT Undersecretary Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, IIDB Director Emmy Lou Delfin, IBPAP President and CEO Jack Madrid, IBPAP COO Celeste Ilagan, and CCAP board members Mitch Locsin and Haidee Enriquez.

Balanga’s recognition celebrates its strong commitment to digital transformation and strategic ICT initiatives, with Mayor Francis Anthony S. Garcia playing a pivotal role as a driving force behind these efforts. This success is further supported by Bataan Governor Jose Enrique S. Garcia’s initiatives to advance digital projects and enhance Bataan’s digital ecosystem.

Additionally, the involvement of private stakeholders, including the Bataan ICT Development Council (BICTDC) led by Mr. Bryan Joseph Banzon, has been instrumental in this success. The presence of three key BPO locators in the city— Genpact, Bootkeeper and Yoonet—further underscores Balanga’s growth and significance in the ICT sector.

This prestigious award highlights Balanga’s roadmap toward becoming a leading digital city, showcasing its significant contributions to the broader Digital Cities Program. By promoting development and creating job opportunities through IT-BPM growth, Balanga solidifies its role as one of the leading forces in the advancement of digital cities.
