February 26, 2024 – February, the National Arts Month in the Philippines, is a time of vibrant celebration, honoring the richness and diversity of Filipino arts and culture. The City Government of Balanga led by Mayor Francis Anthony S. Garcia, through the City Tourism Office, in partnership with the Bataan National High School (BNHS) led by Ms. Alma V. Poblete, Principal IV, illuminated this tradition with its ‘Ani ng Sining, Bayang Malikhain’ Awarding and Culminating Activity of the BNHS Junior High School Special Program in the Arts (SPA).

The program was graced by esteemed guests, including Hon. Jowee N. Zabala, Committee Chairperson on Tourism, and Dr. Roland M. Fronda, Schools Division Superintendent, who delivered inspiring welcome remarks. They underscored the importance of nurturing creativity and fostering a culture of artistic expression within the community. Further, Dr. Fronda emphasized that every Balangueño possesses the potential for greatness in the arts, urging students to embrace their talents and to express gratitude to their parents for their unwavering support.

Quoting Dr. Fronda, “Ani ng Sining sa Lungsod ng Balanga, Batang Balangueño Tunay na Kahanga-hanga,” the event highlighted the remarkable achievements of the Balangaeño youth in the realm of arts and culture.

He also acknowledged the City of Balanga and Province of Bataan for its steadfast support in safeguarding the arts and nurturing talents. The collective effort of the entire community was evident, underscoring a shared commitment to preserving and promoting Filipino heritage through the arts.

Throughout the program, the SPA students dazzled audiences with their exceptional talents in various specialized fields, including dance, vocal performance, theater arts, instrumentals, media arts, and creative writing. From dance routines to soul-stirring vocal performances, each presentation was a testament to the dedication and passion of these young artists.

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of winners from various contests held within BNHS in line with Arts Month. Awardees from different specializations were honored for their remarkable achievements and contributions to the arts, serving as inspiring role models for their peers.

Furthermore, the event celebrated the accomplishments of SPA Alumni, who continue to make significant strides in their respective fields. Their success stories served as a source of pride and inspiration, reinforcing the value of the SPA program in nurturing talent and fostering artistic excellence.
