May 15, 2023 – Twenty-five (25) horses, twenty-three (23) females and two (2) males, were dispersed to the farmers from various barangays in the City of Balanga, including Barangays Tanato, Tenejero, Central, Dangcol, Cataning, Camacho, Cabog-Cabog, and Tuyo.
The activity was held at Upper Tuyo Covered Court through the leadership of Provincial Governor Jose Enrique “Joet” S. Garcia, Vice-Governor Ma. Cristina Garcia, Congressman Albert “Abet” S. Garcia, City Mayor Francis Anthony S. Garcia, and Vice-Mayor Vianca Lita V. Gozon with the initiative of the Provincial Veterinary Office and City Veterinary Office.
Present in the event were Acting Mayor Vianca Lita V. Gozon, City Councilor Hon. Benigno Meriño, City Veterinarian Dr. Billy Andrew E. Samson, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Alberto S. Venturina, and SK Chairman of Brgy. Tuyo Mr. Aries Panaligan.
In their messages, they reminded the recipients that the provision of these animals come with great responsibility as they will be the ones to raise and cultivate new sources and foundation of livelihood in the city and in the province. The draft horse dispersal is a livelihood improvement of the Provincial Government of Bataan and City Government of Balanga wherein it aims to develop increased economic stability in farming, livestock and agricultural production over the years.
Further, they also mentioned that these horses will not just be a source of livelihood, but will hopefully be used as an asset for culture and tourism in the province.
The farmers are honored and overjoyed to receive these horses as they will be a great contribution to an increased agricultural productivity. The Provincial Veterinary Office and City Veterinary Office assured that they will support the farmers in providing the needs of the horses.
