April 19, 2023 — In its first time, the City of Balanga organized an event called “Guro Ko, Talentado!” as part of the Pistang Balangueño celebration. Held at Plaza Mayor de Balanga, the event featured teachers with exceptional talents from different schools in elementary, secondary, and senior high school levels.
This fun and entertaining event was organized by the city government led by Mayor Francis Anthony S. Garcia, in coordination with the Balanga City Tourism Council chaired by Mayora Raquel Garcia.
Chief Education Supervisor (SGOD) Dr. Flordeliza Del Rosario greeted Balangueños on behalf of Schools Division Office (SDO) – Balanga Superintendent Dr. Roland Fronda and SDS Ilynne Samonte. She praised the teachers because despite their busy schedules, they still make time to share their talents. She also urged the residents to look forward to the upcoming activities that were prepared by the Local Government of Balanga in collaboration with the DepEd Balanga.
On behalf of Mayor Garcia, City Tourism Officer Mr. Norlie Castro expressed his gratitude to the great leadership of the local officials which led to the success of this program. He also thanked the staff of different departments as well as teachers who took their time to participate in this event along with their supportive students and fellow Balangueños.
In her closing remarks, Committee Chairperson on Tourism Hon. Jowee Nisay Zabala acknowledged the skilled educators from Balanga City that showcased their talents in the event. Additionally, she extended congratulations to the participants, recognizing their abilities as a win already.
Meanwhile, Sebastian Buensuceso performed a violin piece as an intermission number that added to the program’s excitement.
During the awarding, consolation prizes worth Php 2,000.00 were given.
Below were the winners of the event and the cash prize that they received:
COB Junior High School (Champion) – to receive Php 10,000
COB Senior High School (Second place) – to receive Php 7,000
BNHS Senior High School (Third place) – to receive Php 5,000
Present to show their support were the city department heads, school principals, teachers and other staff, and students.
