March 17, 2023 – City officials attended the culminating activity of the week-long celebration of Learning Barangay Week at Brgy. Pto. Rivas Lote – the General Assembly.
Highlighting the event was the reporting of accomplishments by each Barangay Committee Chairperson. Meanwhile, Barangay Captain Richard “Jojo” L. Sioson mentioned their barangay’s accomplishments since the onset of the pandemic up to the present.
Vice-Mayor Vianca Lita V. Gozon and City Councilor Pedro Yuzon thanked the residents for supporting the city’s programs and activities. They hope that through this activity, the residents are now better informed about the city’s programs for the community.
Meanwhile, City Mayor Francis Anthony S. Garcia commended the residents led by their barangay officials — from the Purok Leaders up to the Brgy. Captain — for their good administration which makes their barangay one of the most featured barangays when there are visitors from other provinces.
Recently, Barangay Pto. Rivas Lote received a back-to-back award from the Department of Interior and Local Governance (DILG) as one of the Top Performers in the 2022 Barangay Environmental Compliance Audit (BECA) – City Category. The barangay is also one of the National Passers of 2021 Pilot Testing of the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB).
Through activities like this, the city government can hear the greater needs in the barangay-level when it comes to their programs. As a support, the city government donated items and utensils which the barangay councilors requested during their consultation with Mayor Garcia.
To make the event more fun and lively, dancers of Brgy. Pto. Rivas Lote demonstrated moves that showcased their dancing skills.
