The City Government of Balanga, in partnership with the Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Philippine Zhangzhou General Chamber of Commerce, recently conducted a relief operation in Brgy. Tenejero and Brgy. Upper Tuyo provided much-needed aid to the affected communities following the impact of Typhoon Carina.

Mayor Francis Anthony S. Garcia commended the collaborative efforts that have made the city’s flood control measures more effective, significantly reducing the impact of flooding on residential areas. He emphasized the importance of ongoing projects, such as the flood control activities in Sibacan and access road projects in COB, which are crucial in making these areas safer and more accessible.

Brgy. Captains of Tenejero and Tuyo, Hon. Evelyn Yuzon and Hon. Eulalio Montefalco Jr., expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, highlighting the enduring friendship between the Filipino and Chinese communities. She noted that this partnership has been instrumental in supporting the city’s disaster response efforts, particularly in times of calamity. The City Social Welfare Development Office, in coordination with the City Mayor’s Office, managed the distribution and overall organization of the event. They also identified the recipients within the barangays to ensure that the aid reached those in need.

In addition to the relief goods, the Chinese organization also donated 200 pairs of shoes to the City of Balanga athletes, distributed to the Department of Education (DepEd) through Ms. Flordeliza Del Rosario. This gesture underscores the chambers’ commitment to providing immediate relief and supporting the long-term development of the youth in the city.

The Filipino at Tsino Magkaibigan Foundation, in partnership with the Chinese Embassy and the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), played a crucial role in this relief operation. These organizations have consistently demonstrated their commitment to supporting the community, both during the pandemic and in times of crisis. Their collaborative efforts highlight the strength of unity and a shared dedication to uplifting communities in need.
