On May 25, 2024, the City Government of Balanga hosted the 7th annual Tobacco-Free Generation (TFG) Bike Ride, drawing 1,009 participants.
Typically held in August, the event has been moved to May to coincide with World No Tobacco Month. This year’s ride featured two routes: a shorter 5-kilometer course and a more challenging 30-kilometer route, accommodating riders of various skill levels and promoting a tobacco-free lifestyle.
In his message, Governor Joet Garcia expressed hope that activities like the TFG Bike Ride would inspire Balangueños and Bataeños to embrace the benefits of a healthy lifestyle for their overall well-being.
Representing Mayor Francis Anthony Garcia, City Councilors Hon. Christian Manalaysay, Committee Chairperson on Health, and Hon. Jowee Zabala addressed the participants, urging them to refrain from smoking and vaping due to their harmful health effects.
Prizes were awarded to finishers, and a raffle was held for all participants, adding excitement to the event.
The event’s success was made possible through the collective efforts of the City Health Office, led by Dr. Mariano Antonio Banzon, and the Health Promotion Board with the help of the Youth Health Ambassadors.
