April 17, 2024 – In a concerted effort to streamline passport acquisition for the residents of Bataan, the City Government of Balanga, in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), recently conducted the Passport on Wheels program.
The program, held at Vista Mall Bataan, was made possible through the visionary leadership of Governor Joet Garcia, Congressman Abet Garcia, Mayor Francis Anthony Garcia, Vice-Mayor Vianca Lita Gozon, and the Sangguniang Panlungsod members. Their unwavering commitment to public service has paved the way for this innovative approach to passport application, ensuring convenience and accessibility for the Bataeños.
Spearheaded by the City Local Civil Registry Office under the guidance of City Registrar Ms. Marilyn C. Cruz, and supported by Mr. Mark Michael Vincent L. Marbella, Foreign Service Staff Officer IV of DFA, along with the DFA Mobile team members, the initiative aims to bring passport services closer to the people.
Initially, 1,200 slots were allocated for the program, with an additional 200 slots added upon request. This adjustment catered to the growing demand for passport services, ultimately accommodating a total of 1,358 out of 1,400 slots over the course of two days.
The Passport on Wheels program represents a significant step towards enhancing government service delivery. Bringing essential services directly to the people makes the process more efficient. This proactive approach not only facilitates smoother transactions but also demonstrates the government’s responsiveness to the needs of its constituents.
