On April 26, 2024, Balanga City streets echoed with drum beats and vibrant street dancing as the community celebrated the Banga Festival. This yearly event of the City Government of Balanga supported by Mayor Francis Anthony S. Garcia, Vice Mayor Vianca Lita V. Gozon, Sangguniang Panlungsod Members, and organized by the City Tourism Office in support of the Balanga City Tourism Council led by Mayora Raquel Garcia, celebrates Balanga City’s cultural heritage, especially the esteemed banga.

Barangays from across the city participated in the highly anticipated 2024 street dancing competition, each showcasing their creativity and skill in interpreting the festival’s theme. The festival, held in front of the Cathedral Shrine Parish of St. Joseph and Plaza Mayor de Balanga, served as a platform for communities to demonstrate their pride in their cultural identity.

The parade, showcasing the performances of each barangay, made its way to the Bataan People’s Center, where the energy was evident as dancers adorned in vibrant costumes filled the streets, captivating the Balangueños with their dynamic routines and enthusiasm.

Governor Jose Enrique S. Garcia III, in his address, expressed his profound admiration and support for the Balangueños, underscoring the significance of events like the Banga Festival in fostering community spirit and cultural preservation. His words echoed the sentiment shared by many in attendance, affirming the festival’s role in strengthening the bonds that unite the people of Balanga City.

SK Federation President Hon. Kheilene Camus also extended her gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the festival, recognizing the dedication of the barangays and dancers who participated, as well as the unwavering support of the community.

The highlight of the event was the announcement of the competition winners, who were awarded generous cash prizes for their outstanding performances. The champion received a prize of Php 100,000, while the first and second runners-up were awarded Php 70,000 and Php 50,000 respectively. In addition to these prizes, special awards were also presented, including Php 20,000 each for Best in Costume and Best in Parade. Consolation prizes were also distributed.
