March 28, 2023 – Around sixty (60) city employees (one department head and one representative per department), together with some 145 teachers and staff from DepEd-Balanga, attended the four-hour ICT Training conducted by the City Government of Balanga, in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Bataan, Bataan ICT Development Council, and Yoonet.

Held at the Conference Room of The Bunker, the training tackled two items in the agendas, namely, the ChatGPT Open AI and the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI).

City Mayor Francis Anthony S. Garcia shared his excitement about the training, highlighting its importance in the day-to-day work of employees where most processes depend to a great extent on technology.

Mr. Ben Carter, founder of Yoonet which is one of the top BPO locators in Balanga, discussed what ChatGPT Open AI is all about and how it can help speed up the work of city employees and teachers, and how it can assist students with their studies.

On the other hand, DICT Bataan Provincial Head Mr. Gerald Calamaan talked about PNPKI and how it can help fast-track processing of documents while ensuring safety and authenticity at the same time. Mr. Calamaan also processed some of the participant’s PNPKI application during the training.

To end the program, Bataan ICT Development Council President Mr. Bryan Joseph Banzon shared that the council is always ready to support the city government in its ICT initiatives. He also gave an update regarding the upcoming ICT-related events in the city for this year, including the Global Blockchain Summit.

There will be a follow-up training where the participants will engage in an exercise utilizing ChatGPT. This will be followed by a short discussion on upgrading and managing a Gmail account.

The event was successfully conducted through the efforts of Management Information Services Office led by MIS Officer Ms. Roneth Santos.
