February 14, 2023 — To celebrate this Day of Hearts, the City Government of Balanga, through the Human Resources Management Office (HRMO) held a Zumba session this morning at Plaza Mayor.

Dubbed as “Zumbeat” and themed “A Healthy Heart is a Happy Heart,” city employees, all donned in red tops, gathered at the plaza where they listened to messages coming from Councilors Benigno Meriño and Christian Laurence Manalaysay, and danced to the beat of Zumba.

Councilor Meriño briefly talked about the history of the celebration of Valentine’s Day and emphasized the necessity of keeping a “good” heart, meaning a healthy heart.

On the other hand, Councilor Manalaysay offered a deeper take on the celebration, stressing the need for all to not just have a loving heart, but to have a “good” heart, not in terms of physicality, but in terms of doing acts of kindness to those in need. Further, he said that we never know what other people are going through because we cannot see what is on their mind or in their heart. Just be open to offer support and compassion to everyone.

After their messages, COB employees happily danced to the beat of Zumba led by the COB dancers.

Towards the end of the program, tokens of appreciation were given to couples and singers who took part in the making of Valentine’s Day videos. The COB dancers were also recognized for their support.

HRMO OIC Ms. Velmen Larozo thanked all the employees for actively joining the Zumbeat which is aligned to the city’s aspiration to provide a healthy lifestyle for its residents.
